TOS VARNSDORF specialises, among other things, in the machining of grey cast iron and medium-sized welded parts with the dimensions of up to 8,000 mm in length and maximum weights of 12 t. For this purpose we use a relatively large machine park, in which machines of our own production predominate, supported by flat-surface grinders. The acquisition costs of these machines and the interest of customers in these professions requires 24 hour staffing, including weekends. Supplementing unused capacities is carried out in the form of cooperation.

The achieved production quality is verified by two ZEISS three-coordinate measuring machines (small 1,000 x 1,000 x 3,000 mm; large 2,000 x 3,000 x 6,000 mm) and documented by inspection reports as requested by customers.

We also provide metrology services in the inspection and measurement centre, we perform measurements on 3D ZEISS according to special requests.

The largest foreign partner in the field of cooperation is Deckel Maho Gildemeister. This cooperation dates back to 1999, gradually resulting in the assembly of skeletons of horizontal machining centres, including options, in addition to the machining of supporting parts. Surface treatment of workpieces using Mankiewicz two-component structural paints is carried out in a modern paint shop in three spray booths; one of them is equipped with a dryer.

A special secondary activity is the machining of various types of moulds, mainly for the automotive industry. Two WHQ 13 CNC machines are reserved for this purpose. In this area we cooperate with, among others, Škoda Auto Mladá Boleslav, Cadence Innovation Liberec, HP Pelzer Plzeň and other companies.

In addition to the design and development of our own products and machine tools, TOS VARNSDDORF specialises in the production of main bearings, machining of shafts and spindles up to 2,500 mm long.

To achieve the required surface properties of the components and the quality of the contact surfaces, a hardening shop is used, which allows various types of heat treatment to be carried out, for example, annealing to remove internal stress (large wagon furnace), cementing, hardening, refining, nitriding in gas and plasma, blasting and blackening.

We also have a small tool shop, where we are engaged in the custom production of some special tools, their grinding according to customer request on the Helitronic Walter machine, and we also perform grinding of screws on the Reishauer machine and other types of tooling.


Mould manufacturing

The procedure is as follows: CAD data is delivered on a flash drive, by e-mail or via ISDN line, in IGS, VDA, CATIA or Parasolid format (mostly by agreement). Programs are created in CAM software Surfcam or Work NC; it is possible to offer a 5-axis technology.

Production is possible up to maximum dimensions of 8,000 x 3,000 x 1,500 mm and weights of approx. 25 t. According to the segmentation and complexity of the shape. The most modern machining centres produced by TOS VARNSDORF are used for manufacturing, ensuring the maximum precision of manufactured moulds.

Deep drilling with the Aquapower system with parameters of 1,800 x 1,000 x 1,000 mm up to weights of approx. 4.5 t. Inspection on a ZEISS 3D measuring machine with maximum dimensions of up to 6,000 x 3,000 x 2,000 mm and weights of 20 t, taking into account the measured part.
