GRATA – Plate-type machine tools with high rigidity and feed rate

The GRATA series machines represent a modern plate-type machine tool design with high rigidity and stability. They are used for precise milling, drilling, boring and thread cutting of workpieces with large dimensions and weights. They are typically used for machining box-section, plate-like and spatially broken workpieces made of grey cast, iron cast, steel and other materials that can be chip-machined. 

The robust machine base in combination with the extensible ram provides high accuracy and long-term repeatability even at multi-shift loads The machines are designed for both serial and single-piece production, with the possibility of additional technological equipment expansion. 

Flexible machines for productive machining of heavy workpieces 

The GRATA machine is controlled in three axes (X, Y, Z) as standard, whereas depending on the configuration and the additional devices used, it can be extended by additional controlled axes. The variability of the design includes automatic tool change, a ram with an interface for automatic change of various types of milling heads or spindle adapters. The machine can be equipped with various arrangements of additional rotary tables or clamping plates. This allows the machine to adapt to the requirements of a wide range of manufacturing applications.
