TOS VARNSDORF specializes in the machining of cast-iron parts and mid-size weldments of up to 8,000 mm in total lengthand 12 t of total weight. To accomplish such tasks, a relatively large fleet of machines, primarily through the use of our own machines, supported by surface grinding machines, are used. The high acquisition cost of such machines and our customers’ interest in the above-described services require their round-the-clock utilization and operation, even over weekends. Any available capacity is usually made available to outside parties.
Production quality assurance processes are supported by two ZEISS 3 D Coordinate Measuring Machines (smaller: 1000 x 1000 x 3000 mm; larger: 2000 x 3000 x 6000 mm); test certificates are available upon the customer’s request.
We also offer the metrological services of a metrology & testing laboratory; and, upon special request, we can perform the measurements by ZEISS 3 D Coordinate Measuring Machines.
Our major foreign partner for the outworks is Deckel Maho Gildemeister. Our business relationship began in 1999 with the machining of structural parts and our cooperation gradually progressed to the installation of the frames for horizontal machining centers, including options. Finishing operations are carried out in our modern paint shop, which is equipped with three spray booths (one of them with a drier), using Mankiewicz two-component paint systems.
Ancillary and support activities include the machining of different types of moulds and dies, especially for the automotive industry. Two WHQ 13 CNC machines are reserved for this purpose. Among the companies we work with in this area are Škoda Auto in Mladá Boleslav, Cadence Innovation in Liberec and HP Pelzer in Pilsen.
Besides construction and the development of our own production machine tools, TOS VARNS-DORF a.s. specializes in the manufacturing of main mountings and the machining of shafts and spindles up to 2500 mm of total length. In order to achieve the required properties and quality of part surfaces, we use our own heat-treatment shop, where all kinds of heat treatment processes - including stress relief annealing (carried out in a bogie hearth furnace), cementing, hardening, gas and plasma nitriding, shot-blasting and black finishing - are carried out. We also have at our disposal a small toolmaking shop, where we custom manufacture special tools – grinding by a Walter Helitronic machine to meet customer requirements, worm grinding by a Reishauer machine and other kinds of toolmaking services.
Production process: CAD data come to hand on CD by e-mail or ISDN line in IGS, VDA, CATIA, Parasolid format (according to contract). Programms rise in CAM software Surfcam or Work NC, it is possible to offer the technology in 5 axes too.
Production is possible to dimensions of 8000 x 3000 x 1500 mm and weight of c. 25 t depending on form finicality. For production are used machining centers of TOS VARNSDORF a. s. production which ensure the max. accuracy of produced moulds.
Deep drilling by Aquapower system in dimensions of 1800 x 1000 x 1000 mm and weight of 4,5 t. 3D measuring machine ZEISS to dimensions of 6000 x 3000 x 2000 mm and weight of 20 t with respect to measured workpiece.
